The question

How can we strengthen our 8 subsidiary companies, each with their own expertise, communication and logos, under one umbrella brand? How can we communicate this to 800 employees and to our customers and partners? Democo Group came asking some big questions. After growing both organically and through acquisitions, Belgium’s second largest family-owned construction group found itself lacking a unified presence in the market. Ready for a relaunch!

The sparks

After a few strategic sessions and branding exercises, we decided to let all companies fly under the same flag, with a new logo referring to the origin of the group while setting the tone for the future. The new baseline “The Value Builders” introduced all companies in the group as bringers of value within the construction sector. Their new corporate identity was captured in a digital style guide and presented to all employees during a roadshow. From flag to coffee cup, corporate presentation to vehicle decals: we thought of everything.

Of course, the group couldn’t stay behind digitally either. That is why each member of Democo Group also got a brand-new website. New photos, tailored texts, quotes and sharpened brand promises further convinced every one of the added value of the group – something we later elaborated in an internal communication campaign under the heading “Stronger Together“.

The result

A project developer, an installer and a construction worker walk into a communication agency… it could have been the start of a joke, but it turned out to be the start of a fantastic collaboration of many years. We profiled Democo Group as future and value builders and showed how eight branches could complement, challenge and reinforce each other under one flag. We helped strengthen the cohesion between the companies and increased the visibility and prestige of both the members and the group. The real end result? A rock-solid group of companies, that has grown dramatically since then – and still works with us on a daily basis.
