Architecture and urban planning

Gentcement was created in 2013 by two architecture enthusiasts who felt there was a lack of easily accessible, beautifully presented and clearly structured information about new construction projects in and around Ghent. A year later, one of our own brandstichters (Pascal) joined the editorial team and helped found what today has become a much-visited website and a discussion partner for governments, a publication medium for developers and architects, and a platform for opinions on urban planning.

City research

The editorial team of Gentcement consists of 7 volunteers who, in addition to their fulltime jobs, love to always stay up to date of architectural projects and city building in Ghent through construction blogs, internet fora, project websites and lectures. When they want to thoroughly present a larger project, they also plan interviews themselves with the experts who can tell them all there is to know about the new city project!

Gentcement is also increasingly asked to act as an independent journalistic party during discussions between governments, neighborhouds and developers. Today, architects often send in their newest projects, hoping to be featured on the website.
